WHY ANDRES FLU

Choosing a tattoo artist is about more than finding someone who can apply ink to skin. It's about finding an artist with the experience, judgment, and dedication to guide you through a process that will stay with you for the rest of your life.

My name is Andres Flu, and I've been tattooing professionally for more than 15 years.

I moved to New York City in 2022

to study illustration at Parsons School of Design, earning a BFA degree in Illustration.  I entered tattooing during a time when the industry was very different than it is today. Tattooing in New York existed largely underground, and artists learned through experience, mentorship, and dedication to the craft.

Over the years I've worked in some of New York City's most respected tattoo environments, including Crooklyn's Cave, Huggy Bear Tattoo, Inkline Studio, Sacred Tattoo, my studio - Triple X Tattoo, and ultimately my current studio - Red Rocket Tattoo, which I helped build into one of Manhattan's longest-running custom tattoo studios.

Today I continue to tattoo full time at Red Rocket Tattoo in Midtown Manhattan.

More Than 30 Years of Tattoo Experience

Experience matters.

Over the course of thousands of tattoos, an artist develops more than technical ability. They learn design, placement, composition, color theory, skin behavior, healing patterns, and how tattoos age over time.

When clients come to me for a sleeve, backpiece, cover-up, or custom project, they benefit from decades of real-world experience solving tattoo design challenges and creating work that will continue to look strong years down the road.

Specializing in Large-Scale Custom Tattoos

While I enjoy tattooing projects of all sizes, much of my work focuses on:

• Japanese traditional tattoos

• American traditional tattoos

• Full sleeves

• Backpieces

• Bodysuits

• Large-scale custom tattoo projects

• Bold color tattoos

• Black and grey tattooing

Large projects require planning, patience, and consistency. My goal is to create tattoos that work as complete compositions rather than isolated pieces.

A Background in Illustration and Design

Before becoming a tattoo artist, I studied illustration at Parsons School of Design.

That training continues to influence the way I approach tattooing today.

Strong tattoos begin with strong design. Understanding composition, flow, balance, contrast, and visual storytelling helps create tattoos that work with the body rather than simply sit on it.

Every custom project begins with the same question:

"What is the strongest design solution for this person?"

The New York Tattoo Experience

Having tattooed in New York City for decades, I've worked with every type of client imaginable:

• First-time tattoo clients

• Collectors building large projects

• Artists and musicians

• Visitors traveling to New York for tattoo work

• Professionals looking for high-quality custom tattoos

Whether you're planning a small tattoo or a multi-session project, I approach each client with the same goal: creating the best tattoo possible for that individual.

Why Clients Choose Me

Clients often tell me they appreciate:

• More than 30 years of professional tattoo experience

• Honest advice about tattoo ideas and placement

• Strong drawing and design ability

• Experience with large-scale projects

• A calm, straightforward approach

• Consistent, long-term results

• A clean, professional studio environment

Tattooing isn't about convincing someone to get tattooed.

It's about helping them make the right decision for themselves.

I am the owner and a tattoo artist at Red Rocket Tattoo, a custom tattoo studio in Midtown Manhattan, New York City.

The studio is easily accessible from Penn Station, Grand Central Terminal, Times Square, Herald Square, Chelsea, and the surrounding Manhattan neighborhoods.
