WHY ANDRES FLU
Tattooing has been a fundamental part of my life for more than a decade. It has allowed me to travel internationally, meet incredible people, and tell stories through permanent works of art.
My name is Andrés Flu. I was born in Colombia and now tattoo professionally at Red Rocket Tattoo in Midtown Manhattan, New York City.
I consider myself an artist first and a tattoo artist second. Tattooing isn't where my artistic journey began—it is the natural result of years dedicated to fine art, illustration, design, and creative expression.
If you're looking for a custom tattoo artist in New York City who approaches every project as an original work of art, I'd be honored to create something uniquely yours.
HABLAN ESPAÑOL
Fine Art Meets Custom Tattooing. Created for You.
Before becoming a full-time tattoo artist, I earned a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Antioquia, where I developed a strong foundation in drawing, composition, color theory, and visual storytelling.
My professional career also includes working as a graphic designer, illustrator, and creative director. I founded my own design agency, Camaleón Grupo Creativo, where I created branding, illustration, and visual communication projects for clients across a variety of industries.
I also taught art and design at several universities in Colombia. Teaching strengthened my understanding of both the creative process and the importance of clear communication—skills that continue to shape the way I work with every tattoo client.
Every experience throughout my career has contributed to the artist I am today.
Tattoo Style & Specialties
Although I enjoy working in many artistic styles, I'm especially drawn to combining different visual languages into something original.
My ideal work blends elements of Trash Polka, Realism, and Pop Art, creating tattoos with bold composition, contrast, and personality.
I also specialize in:
• Black & Grey Realism
• Color Realism
• Fine Line Tattoos
• Blackwork
• Trash Polka
• Watercolor Tattoos
• Micro Realism
Rather than forcing every project into one style, I adapt each design to the individual. Every tattoo is custom created around your ideas, your body, and your story.
Why Clients Choose Andrés Flu
A great tattoo begins long before the machine ever touches the skin.
From our first conversation, I work closely with every client to develop their idea, answer questions, refine the concept, and create artwork designed specifically for them.
My goal isn't simply to complete another tattoo.
My goal is to create something you'll be proud to wear for the rest of your life.
Every project receives the same level of attention, whether it's a small Fine Line tattoo or a large-scale custom piece.
Inspiration
Growing up in Colombia continues to influence my artwork every day.
The country's vibrant colors, dramatic landscapes, rich culture, and visual energy helped shape the way I see composition and design.
Music is another important part of my creative life. I play the drums, and the rhythm, balance, and focus that music demands naturally carry into my tattooing.
I also appreciate the quieter moments—a great cup of coffee and the time to slow down. I believe the best artwork cannot be rushed. It requires patience, attention to detail, and complete dedication.
That philosophy guides every tattoo I create.
